Code of Ethics in the Art Room

How to upload a photo

Welcome to Ms. Bucknam's wiki!

This will be your place to come for information on projects

(like requirements and rubrics), to see introductory slideshows

and images to inspire you, and to create your own wiki page!

Your wiki page will be located in the appropriate class folder

in the "Navigator" window to the right.  Think of your wiki page as an online version of your art journal.  You can't draw in it, but you'll use it in lots of other ways!  Here's a few ways

you might use it:

  • document your artwork as you go by photographing it with your laptop
  • reflect on your own artwork, and make comments on classmates' artwork as part of a lesson
  • follow links to online art-making tools, create, then upload to your page
  • upload images to use as inspiration for an art project

Wikipage Rules & Etiquette

  1. NEVER put personal information on your wiki page, including photos of you, clues to where you live or go to school, or ways to get in touch with you (like a phone number)
  2. NEVER edit any page other than your own - all changes will be emailed to me, so I will know exactly what you do!  Editing someone else's page is considered vandalism.
  3. NEVER share your login id or password.
  4. Only make comments on someone else's page when directed to by Ms. Bucknam as part of a lesson.
  5. Only use the Free-time Fun Links when you actually have free time - don't play with them in order to avoid doing work for school.
  6. Use respectful and positive language on the wiki page at all times - keep in mind that words can easily be misinterpreted.
  7. Remember that this online site is open to the public.  Whatever you put on here can be seen by other students, teachers, your parents, and people in the community.  Make a good impression!

Commenting Etiquette

The point of commenting on others' work is to have an online art critique, or discussion, about artwork.  This will improve your skills in analysis and communication, will encourage a dialogue about art, and will help everyone in class create their best possible work.  The more help we offer each other, the better we all become.  General rules for leaving comments are:

  1. Use proper grammar and spelling.  IM or chat language, emoticons, and abbreviations are not appropriate in a discussion or comment (like: :)  or lol).  Use words, and complete sentences.
  2. Only use positive language, even when making suggestions about how to improve artwork.
  3. Make an effort to comment on different people's work over time.  Be democratic, and don't just stick with your friends all the time.
  4. Be sure your comments ADD something for the artist – compliments and positive feedback are nice, but they will learn more from your added idea, suggestion, or constructive and tactfully written criticism.
  5. Your comments should be thoughtful and well planned.  Not-so-thoughtful, poorly worded, brief, off-topic, and unproductive comments will receive a lower grade.  Inappropriate comments (put-downs, negative language or tone, hurtful statements) will be deleted by Ms. Bucknam immediately, and will receive a zero for a grade.

CYBER BULLYING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

Here are some comment examples:

  •

  • Thoughtful:  "I really like all the different doodles you used in your Zentangle.  The variety is great, and you were really inventive!  I especially like the one with all the wavy lines and ovals - it reminds me of the pattern you see when waves wash up on the sand at the beach.  Some of your doodles are a little messy, though, which makes it difficult to see what's going on.  If they were neater, it would look even better!"
  • Not-so-thoughtful:  "Your journal cover looks cool!  Nice job!  See you at lunch!"
  • Inappropriate:  "This looks kinda crappy.  Like you didn't bother finishing it, or something.  You should probably stop slacking off in class."

Proofread your comments before you click "Add Comment"!!!
